Jyotirlinga According to Rashi
Each of the twelve Jyotirlingas — the self-manifested abodes of Lord Shiva — is traditionally associated with one of the twelve rashis (zodiac signs). The most widely-followed scheme pairs every rashi with the Jyotirlinga worshipped to balance the energy of its ruling planet (graha). Find your rashi below, the Jyotirlinga linked to it, and a guide to reaching it.
Note: associations vary across traditions — some map by Moon sign, some by Sun sign or ruling planet. This is the common one-Jyotirlinga-per-rashi mapping. Worshipping any Jyotirlinga with devotion is held to be beneficial, regardless of rashi.

Frequently asked questions
- Which Jyotirlinga should I worship according to my rashi?
- In the most widely-followed scheme, each rashi is paired with the Jyotirlinga traditionally worshipped to balance its ruling planet. For example, Mesh (Aries, ruled by Mars) is linked with Somnath, and Singh (Leo, ruled by the Sun) with Kashi Vishwanath. See the full table above for all twelve rashis.
- Is the Jyotirlinga–rashi mapping fixed across all traditions?
- No. Different astrologers and devotional sources give slightly different mappings — some pair by Sun sign, others by the Moon sign or the ruling planet. The table here follows the common ruling-planet association with one Jyotirlinga per rashi. Worshipping any Jyotirlinga with devotion is considered beneficial regardless of rashi.
- Should I use my Moon sign (rashi) or Sun sign?
- In Vedic astrology, 'rashi' usually means the Moon sign (Janma Rashi). If you know your Moon sign from your birth chart, use that; otherwise the Sun sign association still works as a general guide. You can check your Moon sign with a free kundli.
- Do I have to visit the temple in person?
- No. You can offer remote Shiv Puja seva — abhishek and puja performed by verified kartas at the Jyotirlinga on your behalf, with your sankalp — if you cannot travel in person.
- Is worshipping the Jyotirlinga for my rashi a substitute for remedies in my chart?
- It is a devotional practice, not a replacement for understanding your own chart. Treat it as one supportive act of bhakti alongside, not instead of, the specific guidance your kundli and dasha indicate.
