The Vimshottari Dasha system distributes 120 years across nine grahas (planets) in a fixed order: Ketu (7 yrs), Venus (20), Sun (6), Moon (10), Mars (7), Rahu (18), Jupiter (16), Saturn (19), and Mercury (17). Your personal sequence begins with the nakshatra (lunar mansion) the Moon occupies at the exact moment of birth.
Each of the 27 nakshatras is ruled by one of the nine grahas. The ruler of your birth nakshatra becomes your first Mahadasha planet, and the remaining balanceof that period is calculated from the Moon's precise longitude within the nakshatra. This balance — often just months or a few years — is the starting offset that makes every person's Dasha timeline unique.
Within each Mahadasha, nine Antardashas (sub-periods) cycle through the same planetary order, starting from the Mahadasha lord itself. For example, during a Jupiter Mahadasha (16 years), you pass through Jupiter–Jupiter, Jupiter–Saturn, Jupiter–Mercury, and so on. The Antardasha lengths are proportional to each planet's share of the 120-year cycle.
Daanyam computes your Dasha using Swiss Ephemeris-grade planetary positions and the classical rules from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra (BPHS). Enter your date of birth, exact birth time, and place of birth above to see your current Mahadasha, Antardasha, and the full timeline.
