नामांक · The 9 Namanks — Vedic Name Numbers
Your name carries a vibration. Namank reduces the letters of your name to a single digit and links it to a graha — how you express yourself in the world.
Namank (नामांक) is your name number — the Chaldean letter values of your name reduced to 1–9 and linked to a ruling planet. Where Mulank and Bhagyank come from birth dates, Namank describes how your name projects energy in the world.

Calculate your Namank from your name
Enter a name once. We map each letter to its Chaldean value, add the digits, and reduce to Namank 1–9.
Tip: letters only — spaces and punctuation are ignored. We use the Chaldean system (1–8 letter values; 9 is sacred).
What is Namank (नामांक)?
Namank is your name number — also called the expression number. Each letter of your name maps to a value; you add the values and reduce the total to a single digit 1–9. That digit is linked to a ruling graha and describes how your name projects energy: your communication, your presence, and the way the world first receives you.
It is distinct from Mulank (your birth-day number) and Bhagyank (your full-date destiny number). Mulank and Bhagyank describe your inner nature; Namank describes how you express it outwardly. When the three harmonise, self-expression feels effortless.
Two classical systems are used: Chaldean (sound-vibration, 1–8 only, with 9 held sacred and never assigned to a letter — the system most Vedic-leaning Indian numerologists prefer) and Pythagorean (1–9 in alphabet sequence, a useful Western cross-check). Vowels give a Soul-Urge number; consonants give a Personality number.
How Name Numbers Are Calculated
In the Chaldean system, each letter is assigned a value from 1 to 8 by its sound vibration. The number 9 is held sacred and is never given to a single letter, though a name's total can still reduce to 9. Map every letter, add the values, then reduce the total to a single digit. Worked example for RAM: R = 2, A = 1, M = 4, total 7 — so RAM is Namank 7. If a total comes to 29, reduce again: 2 + 9 = 11, then 1 + 1 = 2.
| Value | Letters (Chaldean) |

Frequently asked questions
What is Namank (नामांक) — the name number?+−
Namank (नामांक) is your name number, also called the expression number. It is the sum of the letter values of your name, reduced to a single digit 1–9, and is linked to a ruling planet. Where Mulank comes from your birth day and Bhagyank from your full birth date, Namank describes how your name itself projects energy — your communication, presence and the way the world receives you.
How do I calculate my name number?+−
Map each letter of your name to its number, add the values together, then reduce the total to a single digit 1–9. Worked Chaldean example for RAM: R=2, A=1, M=4, total 7 — so RAM is Namank 7. For a longer name, keep adding the digits of the total until you reach 1–9; for example a total of 29 reduces to 2+9=11, then 1+1=2.
Chaldean vs Pythagorean — which name-number system should I use?+−
The Chaldean system assigns letters values 1–8 by sound vibration (9 is held sacred and never given to a letter) and is the system most Vedic-leaning Indian numerologists prefer. The Pythagorean system assigns 1–9 in simple alphabet sequence and is a useful Western cross-check. Many people read both: Chaldean for the core vibration and Pythagorean to confirm the picture. Vowels give a Soul-Urge number and consonants a Personality number.
What are lucky name numbers and lucky letters?+−
A lucky name number is one that harmonises with your birth numbers — your Mulank and Bhagyank — so your name supports rather than pulls against your natural energy. Lucky letters are the letters whose values resonate with your name number; favouring them in a brand spelling, handle or signature reinforces the vibration. There is no single universally lucky number; the best one is the one that fits you. Each Namank page lists its lucky letters.
What is name correction in numerology?+−
Name correction means making small spelling adjustments — adding, dropping or changing a letter — so the name's total reduces to a more supportive number. Public figures often tweak a spelling when stepping into a new role. It is best understood constructively: the aim is to tune the name so it expresses qualities you already have and aligns with your birth numbers, never as a fix for misfortune or a guarantee of results.
How does Namank relate to Mulank and Bhagyank?+−
Mulank is your birth-day number and Bhagyank your full-date destiny number — together they describe your inner nature. Namank is your name number and describes how you express that nature outwardly. A name number that harmonises with your Mulank and Bhagyank makes self-expression feel effortless; one that pulls against them simply asks for more conscious effort. They are three complementary layers, not competing systems.
