The Womb of Rebirth
Legend holds that Mata Vaishno Devi meditated here in deep penance for nine months, sheltered inside this narrow cave passage from the demon Bhairon Nath. Crawling through its 98-foot length — barely wide enough for one body — is called Garbh Joon: the womb passage. Pilgrims believe completing it washes away a full cycle of rebirths, emerging spiritually reborn on the other side.
Ardh Kuwari is where Mata is believed to have taken shelter for nine months. The narrow Garbh Joon passage is seen as a symbolic rebirth journey, and many pilgrims consider this stop emotionally as powerful as Bhavan darshan.
