Janmashtami
जन्माष्टमी
“Krishna's birthday — the greatest celebration of divine love”
Significance of Janmashtami
Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna — the eighth avatar of Vishnu, the charioteer of Arjuna, the author of the Bhagavad Gita, and the very embodiment of divine love, joy, and wisdom. It falls on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the dark fortnight (Krishna Paksha) of Bhadrapada month, at midnight — the moment of Krishna's birth in the prison of Kamsa in Mathura.
