Festival days are spiritually charged tithis in the Hindu tradition. Performing Gau Seva on these dates combines the power of daan with the blessings of the festival deity, making the sankalp especially meaningful.

How Daanyam computes this
Daanyam computes Festival calendar with Swiss Ephemeris (professional-grade ephemeris), Lahiri ayanāṃśa, and whole-sign houses where applicable — serving 10,000+ charts daily with ~95% agreement vs classical table checks in our audits. Classical framing draws on Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Phaladeepika, Jataka Parijata. See how we compute →
Hindu scriptures including the Skanda Purana and Padma Purana declare that meritorious acts performed on tithi-specific festivals — such as Akshaya Tritiya, Navratri, and Janmashtami — yield multiplied spiritual merit. Since the cow (Gaumata) is venerated as a manifestation of all gods, feeding cows on these days combines the merit of daan with the specific blessings of the festival deity.
When you book a Gau Seva through Daanyam, a verified karta at our partner gaushala performs the seva on your chosen date. Your name and sankalp (sacred intention) are recited during the offering. You receive photo confirmation of the seva performed. 100% of proceeds go directly to cow care.
Akshaya Tritiya is widely considered the single most auspicious day for daan and seva — the Skanda Purana states that feeding a cow on this day equals the merit of a hundred yajnas. However, every major festival carries its own significance: Janmashtami honours Krishna the cowherd, Makar Sankranti is the highest day for Sankranti daan, and Navratri aligns cow seva with worship of the divine mother.
Gau Seva is performed on the specific festival date, so past-date bookings are not available. However, you can always perform seva on any day — the merit of cow service is eternal. For upcoming festivals, we recommend booking at least a few days in advance to ensure your sankalp is prepared.
Daanyam offers four types of Gau Seva: Roti (fresh bread), Jaggery (gur — especially auspicious on Makar Sankranti and Akshaya Tritiya), Palak (fresh greens), and Full Day Bhojan (a complete day's nourishment for the cows at the gaushala). Each offering can be booked for 1 day, 7 days, or 21 days.
