According to the Valmiki Ramayana, Shri Ram was born at noon — the Madhyahna period — on Navami tithi in Chaitra month, to King Dasharatha and Queen Kaushalya of Ayodhya. He is venerated as Maryada Purushottam — the ideal man and the embodiment of dharma, truth, and compassion.
Gau Seva on Ram Navami aligns with the spirit of seva and compassion that Shri Ram himself embodied throughout his life. The cow is sacred in the Vaishnava tradition, and offering food to cows on the day of Ram's birth is believed to please Lord Vishnu and bring the blessings of dharma into one's home. Jaggery offering (Gur Arpan) is especially auspicious on this day, as jaggery is a traditional prasad offered to Shri Ram during festivals.
