Vedic astrology, also called Jyotish, reads a birth chart in the sidereal zodiac. Daanyam uses the Lahiri ayanamsa for Lagna, the Moon, the nine grahas, nakshatras, and Vimshottari Dasha. The tradition interprets those placements. It is not a scientific proof, and it is not a tropical Western chart.
Definition
Jyotish is the Sanskrit name of this tradition. A Vedic birth chart, also called a Kundli or Janam Kundali, is the sidereal map of the sky at birth. Rashis are the twelve signs. Houses are the twelve life themes counted from Lagna. Grahas are the nine planets used in the tradition. Nakshatras are the 27 birth stars. Vimshottari Dasha is the timing system that starts from the Moon's nakshatra.
How it works
Daanyam measures the birth sky in the sidereal zodiac and applies the Lahiri ayanamsa for that date. It does not also produce a tropical chart.
Lagna, the sidereal rising sign, is the start of the houses. The Moon's nakshatra is the start of Vimshottari Dasha. The Sun, Moon, and rising sign are three different points.
A reading then interprets those placements in the traditional way. The calculation can be checked. The interpretation is not a laboratory result, and Daanyam does not present it as one.

| Lagna | Vrishchika (sidereal Scorpio) |
| Moon sign | Kumbha (sidereal Aquarius) |
| Moon nakshatra | Shatabhisha |
| Birth Mahadasha lord | Rahu |

A common confusion
A different sign in a Western app is not evidence of a wrong birth time, and it is not evidence that one system has been scientifically verified. The two traditions measure from different zero points and then use different tools.
Calculate it
